Army Spc. Jason D. Fingar

Died May 22, 2010 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom


24, of Columbia, Mo.; assigned to 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.; died May 22 in Durai, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when his military vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.

JOINT BASE LEWIS-McCHORD, Wash. — The Defense Department says a 24-year-old soldier from Joint Base Lewis-McChord has died in Afghanistan of wounds he suffered when his military vehicle hit an improvised explosive device.

Pfc. Jason D. Fingar of Columbia, Mo., died May 22 in Durai, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division.

Fingar enlisted Sept. 17, 2008, in St. Louis and received his initial training at Fort Knox, Ky.

His brigade deployed to Afghanistan last July. This was his first deployment.
