NEW PRAGUE, Minn. — A Minnesota Marine who was killed in Afghanistan last week will be laid to rest, and his community has set up a patriotic memorial in his honor.

A WCCO-TV report says the streets of New Prague were lined Wednesday with 1,300 American flags. The flags are planted every 12 feet for about seven miles along the funeral procession route.

They're in honor of 23-year-old Lance Cpl. Dale Means of Shakopee, who was deployed to Afghanistan in July. He was killed Nov. 18 by a roadside bomb.

Means' funeral will be held Wednesday at the Church of St. Patrick of Cedar Lake, near Jordan.

Tasha Kallal was one of the volunteers who helped plant flags. She said the tribute helps teach the children the importance of honoring those who serve.
