Died April 28, 2007 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom
24, of Springfield, Ohio; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.; died April 28 at Forward Operating Base Tillman, Afghanistan, due to injuries sustained in a non-combat-related incident. His death is under investigation.
Springfield soldier dies in Afghanistan

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — A local soldier has died in Afghanistan of injuries not related to combat, the Pentagon said April 30.
Army Cpl. Jeremy Greene, 24, a 2000 graduate of Springfield Shawnee High School, died April 28 at Forward Operating Base Tillman near Lawara, Afghanistan. His death is under investigation.
Army spokesman Ben Abel said Greene suffered a gunshot wound at the base, but he did not know the circumstances. He said another soldier was injured in the incident.
Greene, an infantryman, enlisted in February 2004 and completed training at Fort Benning, Ga. He deployed to Afghanistan in February 2006.
Greene was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.
