OMAHA, Neb. — An Omaha soldier killed in Afghanistan has been laid to rest.
Hundreds of people lined the streets around the church where Pfc. Edwin “Eddie” Wood’s funeral was held early July 17. Mourners included members of Wood’s baseball team. Many waived U.S. flags.
The military said Wood, 18, died of injuries suffered July 5 when insurgents attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device near Charadarre. A soldier from Virginia also died in the attack.
His death came just a day after returning from a visit with family.
