HONOLULU — A soldier from Guam has died in Iraq, the U.S. Department of Defense announced May 5.
Pfc. John D. Flores, 21, of Barrigada, Guam, suffered wounds when his unit came across enemy forces using small-arms fire. He died May 3 in Baghdad.
Flores was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division based in Schweinfurt, Germany.
Flores is the fifth soldier from the island to die in Iraq. He leaves behind his wife, Charlene, and their 18-month-year-old daughter.
