Army Pfc. Stephen E. Wyatt
Died October 13, 2003 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom
19, of Kilgore, Texas; assigned to C Battery, 1st Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Sill, Okla.; killed while riding in a convoy that was hit by an improvised explosive device and small-arms fire Oct. 13 in Balad, Iraq.
Pfc. Stephen E. Wyatt celebrated his 18th birthday by enlisting in the military. "He was dedicated to what he was doing," said his stepmother, Lilmah Wyatt. Wyatt, 19, of Kilgore, Texas, died Oct. 13 when his convoy was hit by an explosive and small-arms fire in Balad, Iraq. Wyatt joined the military after graduating from high school in 2002. He met his wife, Kelly, while they were stationed together at Fort Sill, Okla. He is also survived by his father, a sister, a brother and a stepbrother.
