Died July 22, 2013 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom
22, of Port Arthur, Texas; assigned to 10th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.; died July 22 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, of injuries that occurred in a noncombat incident in Andar, Afghanistan.
Procession set for soldier's remains

NEDERLAND, Texas -- A procession will take the body of a 22-year-old soldier who succumbed to injuries suffered in Afghanistan through the town where he attended high school.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the body of Spc. Anthony R. Maddox of Port Arthur is scheduled to arrive Friday morning at Jack Brooks Regional Airport in Nederland. The procession will pass Nederland High School and its football stadium before ending at a Port Arthur funeral home.
The funeral for Maddox is Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church in Beaumont.
Military officials have said Maddox died Monday in Germany. He was injured in a noncombat-related incident in Afghanistan that remains under investigation.
Maddox was assigned to the 10th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, N.Y.
