27, of Van Nuys, Calif.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Friedberg, Germany; died Aug. 27 of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations, in Hit, Iraq.
