Army Sgt. Gerardo Moreno
Died April 6, 2004 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom
23, of Terrell, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed April 6 by a rocket-propelled grenade when his unit was attacked in Ashula, Iraq.

FORT HOOD, Texas — Army Sgt. Gerardo Moreno was killed in Iraq on Tuesday, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
Moreno, 23, who was born in Mabank and had lived in Winters and Terrell, was killed in a rocket-propelled grenade attack near Ashula. He was an infantryman with Company C, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was on foot patrol when attacked, officials said.
He entered the Army in 1999 and had been assigned at Fort Hood since December.
