Quincy trail named after soldier

QUINCY, Mass. — A trail through the woods behind a Quincy church has been named in honor of a soldier from Scituate who died fighting in Afghanistan in 2005.
The trail behind the Christ Lutheran Church was named last weekend the Sgt. Michael Jason Kelley Freedom Trail.
A sign with the name was placed at each end.
Kelley was a member of the church. The idea to name the trail after him began six years ago when Boy Scout Jason Foote completed a portion of the trail for his Eagle Scout project. Kelley's father, Joseph, completed the trail.
Joseph Kelley told The Patriot Ledger that his son was a caring person who had a special talent of cheering people up. He said the trail is a reminder that freedom comes with a cost.
