Army Spc. Brandon K. Steffey
Died October 25, 2009 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom
23, of Sault Sainte Marie, Mich.; assigned to the 178th Military Police Detachment, 89th Military Police Brigade, III Corps, Fort Hood, Texas; died Oct. 25 in Methar Lam, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device.
State honors soldier killed in Afghanistan

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — Family and friends are paying tribute to Army Spc. Brandon K. Steffey, who was killed in Afghanistan last month.
A funeral was held Nov. 4 for Steffey, who died in a roadside bombing Oct. 25. The procession started at Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home and ended at Sault Area High School. The funeral service with full military honors was followed by a gathering at the high school cafeteria.
Gov. Jennifer Granholm has ordered that all flags in Michigan be flown at half-staff Nov. 4 in Steffey’s honor.
