Army Spc. Curtis E. Glawson Jr.
Died March 20, 2007 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom
24, of Daleville, Ala.; assigned to the 610th Brigade Support Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.; died March 20 in Baghdad of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.
Soldier killed in Iraq blast buried in Alabama

DALEVILLE, Ala. — Army Sgt. Curtis E. Glawson Jr., who died in a March 20 bomb blast in Iraq, was laid to rest March 31 with military honors.
Mourners gathered at the Daleville Christian Fellowship for the service.
Curtis Glawson Sr. said he’s proud of his son’s sacrifice.
“No father could be more proud. He sacrificed his life, he paid the ultimate price,” Glawson said.
A Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals were presented at the service in the soldier’s honor.
Glawson, 24, was assigned to the 610th Brigade Support Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, based in Fort Riley, Kan.
He was assisting another unit at the time of his death. He was on his first deployment to Iraq.
Born in Detroit, Glawson went to high school in Daleville and played varsity basketball.
Survivors include his wife, parents, two sisters and two brothers.
