Died February 26, 2006 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom
21, of Guymon, Okla.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Fort Wainwright, Alaska; killed Feb. 26 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Stryker military vehicle during patrol operations in Mosul, Iraq.
Army releases name of Fort Wainwright soldier killed in Iraq
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Army on Wednesday released the name of a Fort Wainwright soldier who was killed in Iraq on Sunday.
The soldier was Spc. Joshua M. Pearce, 21, from Guymon, Okla. He was a fire support artilleryman who joined the Army in August 2003. He was assigned to Fort Wainwright that December, according to Army officials.
Pearce was killed and three others were wounded when an explosive blew up near their Stryker vehicle in Mosul while on patrol, said Maj. Kirk Gohlke, spokesman for the Army in Alaska.
The other three were not seriously injured.
