Louisiana soldier killed in Iraq
A 23-year-old soldier from Louisiana was killed in Iraq from a “non-combat” related injury, the Department of Defense announced Monday.
Spc. William S. Hayes III, of St. Tammany, died Sunday in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, officials said. Details of how he was injured were not provided.
Hayes was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas. His death is under investigation, the DoD said.
