AKRON, Ohio — An Ohio Marine killed in combat in Afghanistan was eulogized as a hero and an all-American kid at a memorial service.
The service was held Sunday in Akron, the hometown of 25-year-old Cpl. Derek A. Wyatt. He was killed Dec. 6, one day before his wife delivered their son.
Akron Mayor Donald Plusquellic spoke at the service and called Wyatt "an all-American kid." He says Wyatt was willing to give his life for his country.
The Akron Beacon Journal reports Wyatt will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
