BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. — An upstate New York post office is being named in honor of a Marine corporal killed in Afghanistan.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and military, postal and community leaders will join friends and relatives of Kyle Schneider for a ceremony Monday dedicating the post office in the town of Baldwinsville to him.
Schneider was raised in the town of Lysander and graduated from high school in Baldwinsville.
He survived one bomb attack near his base Afghanistan's Helmand Province but was killed a month later by another on June 30, 2011.
President Barack Obama signed the legislation authorizing the new name for the post office in December.
