WASECA, MINN. — A 20-year-old Marine who was killed while serving in Afghanistan has been laid to rest.
Fellow Marines remembered Lance Cpl. Caleb Erickson as a hard worker and a brave Marine who loved serving his country.
He was killed Feb. 28 from injuries he received in an attack by a suicide bomber.
The Mankato Free Press reported that Marines who attended his funeral Monday called Erickson a good friend who made them laugh.
Sgt. Allen Borum said he grew attached to Erickson when they served together before Erickson’s deployment. He helped bring Erickson’s body from Dover Air Force Base to his family.
Borum said Erickson’s death broke his heart.
