N.C.-based Marine dies in Iraq

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — A Marine based at Camp Lejeune has died in a nonhostile incident in Iraq, the military said Jan. 15.
Lance Cpl. Curtis A. Christensen Jr., 29, of Collingswood, N.J., died Jan. 11 after the incident in Ramadi. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).
Christensen joined the Marine Corps on Oct. 16, 2006, and was trained as a machine gunner. He was promoted to lance corporal Dec. 1, 2007.
The incident is under investigation, the Marine Corps said.
