22, of Ashford, Ala.; assigned to 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, based at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif.; died Oct. 24 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
Slain Alabama Marine's family seeks help to honor him

DOTHAN, Ala. - The family of an Alabama Marine killed in Afghanistan is asking residents of his hometown to show their support when his body returned home.
Lance Cpl. Jason Barfield's body is scheduled to arrive at the Dothan Regional Airport on Tuesday. His family is asking residents to honor him by lining the roads along the route from the airport to the funeral home where his remains will be taken.
The Dothan Eagle reports the 22-year-old Marine was killed Oct. 24 during combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion of the 1st Marine Division based in California.
Funeral services for Barfield will be held Saturday.
