Marine Lance Cpl. Noah M. Pier
Died February 16, 2010 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom
25, of Charlotte, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; died Feb. 16 while supporting combat operations in Nawa, Afghanistan.

A Marine died Feb. 16 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan, the Defense Department reported.
Lance Cpl. Noah M. Pier, 25, of Charlotte, N.C., was a machine gunner assigned to Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii-based 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines. His unit deployed to Afghanistan in November, joining Regimental Combat Team 7.
Pier is the third Marine killed in one week in volatile Helmand. It was unclear whether fighting was part of a major assault on the town of Marjah.
Pier joined the Corps in August 2007 and previously deployed to Iraq.
