Marine Pfc. Josue Ibarra

HONOLULU — A Hawaii-based Marine from Texas has been killed in combat in Afghanistan.
Pfc. Josue Ibarra of Midland, Texas died June 19 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province.
He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, at Kaneohe Bay. The unit deployed to Afghanistan in April to provide artillery fire support during counterinsurgency operations.
Ibarra, 21, joined the Corps in June 2010, according to a Marine Corps Base Hawaii news release.
His honors include the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
