Marine Sgt. William J. Woitowicz
Died June 7, 2011 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom
23, of Middlesex, Mass.; assigned to 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion, Marine Special Operations Regiment, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died while conducting combat operations June 7 in Badghis province, Afghanistan.
Wake, funeral planned for fallen Mass. Marine

GROTON, Mass. — This small town is paying final respects to a local Marine killed in Afghanistan.
A wake for Sgt. William Woitowicz, 23, was scheduled for June 15 at St. Catherine’s Church in nearby Westford, with a funeral Mass is scheduled for early June 16 at St. Catherine’s.
The Pentagon said Woitowicz was killed earlier this month after suffering multiple traumatic injuries from small arms fire in Badghis province.
He joined the Marines shortly after his 2007 graduation from Groton-Dunstable High School, where he played basketball.
He is survived by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Woitowicz was assigned to 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion, Marine Special Operations Regiment, Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command, out of Camp Lejeune, N.C.
