Died September 28, 2011 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom
27, of Albuquerque, N.M., died Sept. 28 in Helmand province, Afghanistan while conducting combat operations. He was assigned to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
Fallen New Mexico Marine buried in Texas

EL PASO, TEXAS — A Marine from Albuquerque killed in Afghanistan has been buried in Texas. Marine Staff Sgt. Christopher Diaz was buried with full military honors Monday in El Paso in front of more than 1,000 supporters.
Veterans, friends of the family and members of military families attended the 27-year-old's funeral.
The El Paso Times reports the large group gathered outside St. Mark's Catholic Church before the funeral Mass, waving flags, clapping and holding posters that showed their appreciation for the Marine. They then welcomed the family to Fort Bliss National Cemetery for his burial.
Christopher Diaz died Sept. 28 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
Diaz was a 2003 graduate of La Cueva High School in Albuquerque.
