Marine Staff Sgt. Leon H. Lucas Jr.
Died August 1, 2011 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom
32, of Wilson, N.C.; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; died Aug. 1 in Helmand province, Afghanistan, while conducting combat operations.
Family holds funeral, burial for fallen N.C. Marine

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - The family of a North Carolina Marine killed in Afghanistan is saying goodbye.
A funeral service and burial is being held Monday for 32-year-old Staff Sgt. Leon Lucas Jr., who died earlier this month after being wounded during combat in Afghanistan.
The Wilson man's funeral is at a Baptist church in Jacksonville followed by burial in a nearby state veterans cemetery.
Lucas leaves behind a wife, a 4-year-old son and a 2-year-old son. His family says he and his wife were expecting a third child in December.
Lucas was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment based at Twentynine Palms, Calif.
