Died October 27, 2019 Serving During Operation Inherent Resolve
23, of Billings, Montana, died Oct. 27, 2019, at Camp Taji, Iraq, in a non-combat incident. The cause of death was not released and the incident is under investigation. He was assigned to the 25th Support Battalion, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, out of Fort Wainwright, Alaska. His awards included two Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

A U.S. soldier supporting the Inherent Resolve coalition in Iraq died Sunday, Pentagon officials announced Wednesday morning.
Sgt. Nathan G. Irish died in a non-combat incident at Camp Taji, sometimes called Camp Cooke, in the Baghdad Governorate.
Pentagon officials did not release a cause of death, but said the incident is under investigation.
The 23-year-old soldier was assigned to the 25th Support Battalion, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, out of Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
Irish originally hailed from Billings, Montana.
He joined the active-duty Army in January 2015 and served at Fort Bliss, Texas, before reporting to Fort Wainwright in November 2018, according to U.S. Army Alaska spokesman John Pennell.
Irish served as a small arms and artillery repair non-commissioned officer.
His awards included two Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Irish previously deployed to Kuwait from October 2017 to July 2018.
